54-3 Compact Electric Tow Tug

The 54-3 is a powerful and versatile electric tow tug designed for demanding material-handling applications. With a substantial 3,000 kg towing capacity on flat, level ground, a two-speed drive system and compact dimensions, it provides an efficient solution for moving trailers, carts and other heavy loads around industrial and commercial sites.

Designed for a single operator, the 54-3 combines strong towing performance with straightforward controls, regenerative braking and a compact 788 mm overall width, making it particularly useful where larger towing vehicles may be impractical.

Two-Speed Performance

The 54-3 features a two-speed system, allowing the operator to select a suitable speed for the task and working environment.

In low speed, the vehicle travels at up to 5 km/h unladen and 4 km/h laden. High speed increases performance to 15 km/h unladen and 12 km/h laden, providing greater flexibility when travelling longer distances around larger sites.

3,000 kg Towing Capacity

With the ability to tow up to 3 tonnes on flat, level ground, the 54-3 is built to handle demanding towing operations while remaining compact and manoeuvrable.

The vehicle measures just 1,750 mm long and 788 mm wide, with an outer turning radius of 1,800 mm. Ground clearance is 95 mm, while a small load area behind the driver's seat provides additional space for carrying smaller items.

Powerful Electric Drive

Power comes from a 3,000-watt, 24-volt electric drive motor, combined with an electronic speed controller designed to provide smooth and quiet motor performance.

The controller also incorporates regenerative braking, which can be configured to suit customer requirements. This is particularly useful when travelling downhill, where regenerative braking assists in controlling the vehicle and reduces reliance on the conventional braking system. The controller is specified as meeting CE regulations and being fail-safe.

High-Capacity Battery & Onboard Charging

The standard 54-3 is equipped with a 24V, 320Ah, 12-cell battery system, providing the capacity required for regular industrial use.

For convenient charging, the charger is built directly into the vehicle and can be connected near a standard 13A wall socket, eliminating the need for a separate external charger.

Operator Comfort & Safety

The 54-3 is designed for a single operator and is fitted with a semi-suspension seat and lap belt for added comfort and security.

Hydraulic brakes operate on both rear wheels and are complemented by an automatically applied magnetic parking brake. An emergency cut-out is also fitted as standard.

The vehicle additionally features a horn, reversing sounder with adjustable tone and volume, and a beacon mounted on the roll bar and controlled from the dashboard.

Practical Towing Equipment

A jaw-and-pin multi-jaw towing coupling provides adjustable towing height, helping the 54-3 accommodate different trailers and towing applications.

The operator is provided with a state-of-charge meter and hour meter, making it easy to monitor battery condition and vehicle operating hours. Two ignition keys are supplied as standard.

Optional Cab & Lighting

The 54-3 can be specified with a skeletal cab for increased operator protection. The cab option includes a front windscreen with wipers, steel roof, rear bulkhead with window, zip-up canvas doors with windows and two wing mirrors.

Several lighting configurations are also available, ranging from a single switched headlight to a more comprehensive package with side lights, brake lights, indicators, headlight and a 7-pin socket for trailer lighting.

As shown on page 2 of the specification sheet, the 54-3 is available in an open configuration with roll bar or with the optional enclosed cab arrangement, providing flexibility for different operating environments.
